You've heard it countless times before: People Make the Difference. The differences a staff can make in a supermarket one way or the other, can hardly be overstated. We believe you'll find our staff makes shopping at "The Market" a pleasure. This is who we are. We are approximately 100 people. We are a diverse group, and we enjoy that. In one visit you might be waited on by a butcher from Puerto Rico, a cook from Italy, a cashier attending Wilton High School, and a produce clerk from China.
We don't advertise for help much at all. Most of our staff heard about our store from their friends, relatives, neighbors and came with personal references from current employees. We've even had a few cases of three generation of the same family working for us!
We
operate our five major
departments with a group
of managers who have
been with us over twenty
years on average. They
are ready
to help you in any way
they can!

After
more than 30 years
at the Village Market, Nancy
Dolnier, our VP
and General Manager calls
the Village Market
home. "I've
been here more
than half my life!" That
is not to imply
that she doesn't
get to travel,
go to the beach,
shop, and watch
football. Nancy
is the store
expert on everything:
how much to order
(how many servings
per person, say)
when to order,
what to serve
at your next
party,
how much soda
the Booster Clubs
need...etc. Just
stop by the office
and feel
free to ask.
Nancy
and her husband
Karl enjoy gardening.
They have two
grown sons and
a new granddaughter.

but he helps out
around the store
in many ways.
If you cannot find
a particular item,
if you want to
special order something

any questions at
all, Brian is a
good man to ask!
He is another

fan here in
his case he pulls
for the N.Y. Rangers
and the Yankees.

and brought with
him years of experience
in both retailing

our profitability.
He's still happy
to handle requests
for a new item,
pet food by the
case, or perhaps
a particular Ben & Jerry’s
flavor. Bob and
his wife Mary
Ellen
have 3 children.
His hobbies: "the

Carmen Hostos is our Front End Manager (she is the one to see if you are looking for a cashiering job); Carmen schedules and trains everyone up front, from our veteran cashiers and baggers to the host of teenagers who come and go through the years. Carmen came to the market in 1987, following in her father's footsteps (Gil Garcia was here over 20 years). Carmen has 3 boys, and all enjoy listening to Spanish music.

After
nearly 30 years at
the
Market Terry
Meehan is
as enthused about "his" Produce
Department as
he is about baseball.
Feel free to ask
him anything about
our fruit/gift
baskets, the quality
of the current
supply of artichokes,
or our store-made
soups. Terry and
his wife Marty
have two children
and when he's
not working here
or at home, Terry
enjoys the woods
of New Hampshire.

Ed
Vega has
began working for
us in the early
90s as a stock
clerk,
but switched to
meat department
after a short time
to learn that craft. And
learn it he did.
Ed became a very
skilled meat cutter
and for
a while took
a job closer to
his home. We
missed
him. Ed
returned to
us as our Meat
Manager
in the late
90s and oversaw
the expansion
of that department.
Ed left us again
in 2003,
but once again
we were able
to convince
him
to
return as our
Manager. We
expect Ed will stay
this time!
Ed's brother,
Lou has been
with us in
the Dairy/Grocery
department
for over 20
years and Ed's
son, Emannuel also
works with
his dad in
the meat department.

Butters
from around the world,
imported prosciutto,
rotisserie chicken,
grilled panini sandwiches just
talk to Gary
Mineo about
your party needs.
Gary has been our Deli
Manager for
over 30 years
now. He now shares
the Deli duties
with Katrina, who
concentrates on
the staff while
Gary focuses on
our product lines.
He and his wife
Linda can be found
birding, gardening
and walking in
and around Monroe.

Katrina Gnat is our newest manager joining us in 2004. With the growth of our Deli Operation (which includes Deli, Bakery and Prepared Foods) we brought Katrina in to concentrate on staffing issues while Gary attends to product display and development. Katrina was the GM of a popular restaurant and enjoys the busy pace (and no longer getting home after midnight!).
